What is an Image?

Images can be a lot of things, most commonly photos and illustrations. They come in a variety of formats including .jpg, .png and .gif.

How to Add an Image to a Wordpress Page or Post

Whether it is for a Page or a Post, the process of adding an image is the same. The first thing you need to do is go into your Page or Post. Towards the page/post's heading you should be able to see a small square.

Click this small square, and you will be taken to a screen where you can upload your image.

There should be two buttons, click 'Select Files'.

A window will open and you will be able to see your computer, browse your folders and select the images you need. The view above is for a Mac computer, and will look different for different operating systems. Select the image you want to upload. Once you have done this, you should be able to see the image details, the view should look similar to the below.

Enter the image details. The important fields are:
Title: This is your images title, name it something relevent so it is easy to locate your image later.
Alternate Text: This is an invisible description of your image.

Make sure if you want a full size image you select Full Size. Then Insert into Post.

And Voila! Your image should be in your post or page! Just click publish and your post or page will update on your website.
